Secret London: Mercato Mayfair

Hi dancers!

I really hope that you enjoyed my first post in the new Secret London series I have introduced. If you didn’t catch it, click HERE to read about The Garden at 120 Fenchurch Street, where you can enjoy stunning views that are completely free whilst avoiding the crowds.

Today I want to share my new favourite place in the city- Mercato Metropolitano Mayfair.

Mercato Mayfair is an old church just a couple of minutes’ walk from Bond Street station that has been recently converted into a food hall. Whilst you’ll find steamed buns, sushi, German craft beer and cocktails on offer, the real attraction is all of the amazing Italian food. The entrance area contains a mini Italian supermarket where you can buy biscotti, salami, enormous mozzarella balls, dried pasta, balsamic vinegar and fun soft drinks. Inside, you can get coffee, gelato, steak, pasta, pizza and more. Downstairs there’s a micro-brewery, extensive wine cellar and, best of all, a little cheese and charcuterie shop with an amazing selection of cured meats and cheese- prepare to eat lots of cheese samples!

Come for the food, but stay to top up your Instagram feed, because it’s the stunning location that makes Mercato really unique. There are breathtaking huge stained glass windows, and all of the original features of the building are on display.

Given its central location and great food and drink selection, I’m surprised that this place isn’t jam packed 24/7, but it seems that the secret isn’t out yet, so now is the best time to go. I’ll definitely be going back as much as possible now that I’ve found this hidden gem!

Here are the snaps that Jake and I took when we went along.

These photos were taken, as always, by the talented Jake Owens- his website is HERE and his Instagram is HERE. Editing by me.

I’m wearing Bloch pointe shoes and dance tights, with a dress from the charity shop, and in some photos Nike running shoes (which I have lived in since surgery!).

Let me know if you’ve been to Mercato or if you’re planning to go! Also if there are any locations you’d like to suggest to feature in this series, just comment below!

Love always,

Jessica x
