It has come to my attention that I made this announcement some weeks ago on my social media channels, but because of time constraints I didn’t get around to uploading a blog post about it. So, for those of you who missed it, here is my big announcement:

I have been lucky enough to have been chosen to become a Social Mover for the Sadler’s Wells, London, as part of The Movement initiative. This initiative is designed to bring dance to a wider audience, and they ran a campaign asking for social media ambassadors to apply from London for Sadler’s Wells, Birmingham for the Hippodrome, and Manchester for The Lowry.

This entails attending performances and events at Sadler’s Wells (or whichever theatre is local to those specific Social Movers) and producing content for social media about them. My first opportunity to do this, and to meet the other London Social Movers came when I attended the premier of Acosta Danza in Debut a few weeks ago. We were even able to attend the private reception afterwards, and I was introduced to the choreographer of my favourite piece (Imponderable) Goyo Montero. I made a YouTube video all about the evening, so you can take a look at that on my channel right here!

I have attended two more performances since, on my own accord rather than as a Social Mover, although I still posted some content to The Movement Instagram which you might have seen! I watched Shobana Jeyasingh’s Bayadere: The Ninth Life on Tuesday, and Lyon Opera Ballet in Trois Grandes Fugues on Thursday, part of the Dance Umbrella festival. I will make either a video or a blog post about each of those, so watch this space!

Next week I’m off on another mission for The Movement, so look out for announcements for what I’ll be doing! I hope you enjoy all of the additional content that I’ll be bringing as a result of this amazing opportunity. Make sure you follow Dare to Dance on YouTube, Instagram, Twitter and Facebook so that you don’t miss anything, and definitely follow The Movement on Facebook and Instagram as I take over these channels from time to time and that’s where all the action is happening!

Until then,

Jessica x
